The State of Louisiana Wants You to Give More Tax Dollars  to Entergy

For at least two decades, Entergy has been fraudulently* billing its customers, including the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD).  Among other things, Entergy billed DOTD for maintenance that it did not do, lights that do not exist, and services not provided.  Entergy's continuing fraud* has cost you and other taxpayers money.  Yet Johnny Bradberry, Secretary of DOTD, and Governor Blanco want to forgive Entergy of overcharges to the tune of approximately $5,000,000!!!  According to the DOTD General Counsel, Larry Durant, the state ". . . does not want to pursue collection. . . ." because "There are serious political implications involving any attempts to collect."  In other words the DOTD and Governor prefer to let you, the taxpayer, pick up the cost of Entergy's fraudulent overcharges than risk the impact of those "serious political implications."  (See DOTD General Counsel Letter)   One must wonder if the "implications" have anything to do with money in the pockets of politicians or state employees.

Taxpayers Might Want to Ask Their State Reps to Get Answers Before the Legislator Allocates More of Your Money to DOTD Projects

and

Ask the PSC to Investigate Before Granting Any More Rate Increases to Entergy

TriStem is a national utility audit firm that has collected more than $15,000,000 from Entergy for various clients. Under contract with DOTD, TriStem spent nearly 5 years auditing DOTD bills from Entergy in order to identify overcharges and to collect those overcharges from the utility for the State.  As a result of this work, TriStem has determined that Entergy owes more than $5,000,000.  However, Entergy does not want to pay and, to date, the State has been unwilling to force Entergy to pay.  As a result, after investing thousands of man-hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars to perform its task, TriStem has not been paid a penny for its efforts because, according to its contract, TriStem gets paid a percentage of the money collected from Entergy.  In other words, both TriStem and Louisiana Taxpayers are being ripped off by the cozy relationship between Entergy, Governor Blanco, and DOTD Secretary Bradberry.

*“Fraud” and “Fraudulent,”  in the context of this document, our intended meaning is to be interpreted as the words would be used in common everyday language.  The courts have attributed legal definitions to the terms.  While TriStem is of the opinion that Entergy's actions would probably rise to legal fraud that is not the intended meaning, here.
